If you are visiting this site chances are you are reading this for one of
three reasons. First, You were seeking information on the S.O.A. and decided
to learn something about the promoter. Two, your seeing information on diet,
training or any number of fitness related topic and your checking my
credentials before you go any further. Finally, your a friend and are just
plain old interested.
I'll start with those interested in the championships and answer some of
those questions first. I started this show after 20 years of competing in
bodybuilding. Over this span I have stood on stage over 50 times. I have
also judged extensively in the AAU, NABBA, ANBC, NGA and USBF. Over this
span I had the opportunity to compete in many well run shows. I also had to
endure many sub-par efforts on behalf of promoters seeking only financial
gain. When I decided to start running a competition I spent several years
planning, and looking for the best in venue and organization to promote
with. I decided on the OCB as they personify what natural physique
competition is all about, and they ALWAYS put the athlete first. My wife and
I have pulled out all the stops to make this show a success. Everything from
water and refreshments back stage to the pump up room and separate dressing
facilities for men and women. The individual attention I attempt to provide
comes from my many years of discouragement back stage being ignored. This
will not happen at a Sullivan promotion. Finally, this show is now a INPF
pro-qualifier and IFSB Ms Fitness national qualifier. This allows me to
continue to draw from the best athletes in the area, and reward them with a
professional career in Natural physique.
Now as for me? I have been around this sport since 1978. I started by
meeting some guy named Arnold at a seminar he was giving in Columbus Ohio.
He seemed to know at the time I was a troubled youth so he produced two
tickets for my mother and I to see the Mr. Olympia and go to the after
party. That night I became hooked and have been a bodybuilder ever since. I
began competing in 1983 as a teenager, and have not stopped except for a few
years during the first Gulf war, and right after the birth of my daughters.
I have served in the USMC as a grunt, and the Army as a commissioned officer
and helicopter pilot. I am currently employed as a police officer in
Mashpee, MA. Now what does this have to do with me knowing what I am talking
about? Nothing! But, it should illustrate that I am not in this for the
money! Over the last 25 years I have managed to earn a collage degree in
Aviation science with a biology minor, train under the best coaches in the
world and attend any worth while seminar or expo looking for better
information. My resources are not out of main stream magazines, and I never
pick up a copy of Flex unless its to look at the photo's. I have no personal
training certification of any kind, but I was part of the board that
collaborated on the first testing procedure in Venice, CA at World Gym. The
course was designed to bring new trainers up to speed, and evolved into the
best we now call "certification". I am not a personal trainer therefore, but
I consider myself a coach. My services are available for a modest fee, but I
am no expert. I have no "one size fits all" method. Besides, they don't work
anyway. What I am here for is to help YOU learn your own body and prevent
making any costly mistakes. I can also steer you in the right direction to
avoid miss-information. The point is that you learn to think on your own.
This decreases the profitability as you eventually reach a point where I am
not needed. This is why I am not popular with many of my counterparts in the
fitness fields. Once one can think on there own, the $40-$50 per hour you
pay some 20 year old named Buffy is not worth it. If you don't need a coach
then enjoy the site and feel free to down load any of the articles I post.
None of the material is mine, I am kind of like a filter. I just sort
through the BS and hit upon topics that have both empirical and scientific
backing. After that it's all yours as to what you do with it. For now, cruse
the site and I hope you find the content worth-it, and if you have any
questions feel free to send me an e-mail.
